GEOL 101 - Physical Geology

Introduction into geology, plate tectonics, minerals and rocks, volcanoes, earthquakes, mass wasting, surface processes, etc.







GEOL 303A - Earth Materials

Field trips and hands-on experience are an important part of this course. Topics include crystallography, mineral classes, mineral ID and mineral forming processes.

GEOL 408 - Volcanology

Main focus of this course is to understand how magmatism works at different scales from individual volcanoes to magmatic arcs. We also cover the hazards associated with volcanoes.

GEOL 481A - Field Camp

In field camp our students apply all that they have learned in previous classes in 4-5 different field mapping projects. Currently, we are teaching field camp near Dillon, Montana.
